Lauren is back!

We are so happy to have Dr. Lauren Laverty back from her maternity leave and filled with the joys of baby Iris!

For us it is so important you get to learn a bit about our team and what makes us tick, what motivates us as why we spend our time in clinic with you each day!

So for this blog we want you to get to know Lauren!

What is your favourite aspect of being a dentist?

“I love giving people more confidence in their smile again and that moment when they see their new smile for the first time!”

“I really enjoy the creative element of the job, the design of the new smile and the actual practical aspect involved in sculpting a freehand composite.”

How do you stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technology in dentistry?

“Through regular communication with my dental peers and attending courses and conferences throughout the year.”

What do you think sets your dental practice apart from others?

“Our practice is always aiming to be at the cutting edge of dentistry, recently we have implemented some AI technology in treatment diagnosis that i’m very excited to start using!”

What inspires you?

“I absolutely love the outdoors, the beauty of nature and travelling with my family in our camper van..”

“I also feel really inspired when I spend time with my friends and see them achieving their goals. I think it’s very important to surround yourself with like minded people who encourage you.”

What is your perfect Saturday?

“Pretty simple I would say - A nice sunny morning, cuddles with my baby, good coffee, somewhere nice for brunch with my family and a walk  in a forest or on the beach with our dog, Astrid.”

What is your favourite hotel to stay at when you're travelling?

“Our camper van :D”

How do you incorporate art and culture into your practice?

“I find the entire concept of cosmetic dentistry to be an art in itself.”

“I’m not so much into ‘artwork’ unless it goes a long with the colour scheme of my home, give me a good before and after picture of a smile and then we’re talking.”

What are you reading right now?

“I have to say that having a baby in the past year has definitely reduced the time I have when it comes to reading! The truthful answer is a ‘bored of lunch cookbook’ and a book on baby nutrition as were currently at the weaning stage. If this had been asked to me pre baby it would have been a good science fiction novel.”

How do you make your patients feel comfortable during their visits?

“Chatting and getting to know them before we start any dental treatment. If they have any fears I like to establish what they are before we start any treatment and look at specific ways we can address them together. A good wee Netflix show in the background doesn’t hurt either.”

What is your favourite way to unwind after a long day at work?

“Hmm with a young baby it’s not really happening at the moment! Once she’s down to sleep we’ll try and squeeze in an episode of something with my husband.”

What is the most rewarding experience you've had as a dentist?

“It does really make my day when someone gets emotional over their new smile.”
